Cheer and Dance
The Clarets Cheer and Dance team is an amazing family of dancers! We cover three main areas of dance: Street Cheer, Pom Cheer and Cheerleading!
We have some amazing teams that are divided by age and ability. The most important thing to remember is that EVERYONE is welcome at the Clarets!
You will always be given a chance to dance. NO ONE will ever be excluded.. We are all about having fun whilst winning lots of trophies!
Meet Sophie
Our Head Coach
I started dancing from the age of 6 in Cheerleading and Street Dance.. I then took a love to contemporary dance in high school, to which I finished with an A* in Dance.
At the same time I started assistant coaching at Burnley Football Club when I was 15! Helping out in classes and taking my first leadership qualification after dancing for the Team at BFC ‘Beesknees’ for many years, my dedication to the team and club then lead me to take over when the community side and team got cut.
I took the club with just 3 teams and around 45 cheerleaders and carried it on at the James Hargreaves side as a cheerleading club. At the same time I was graduating college with my Distinction* in Performing Arts which then lead me to study Dance and Performance at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Over time I built up my dance teaching qualifications to become fully qualified in Street Dance and Hiphop, with a UKA Degree and then became fully qualified in UKCA Cheerleading.
I now run the whole club of 100+ dancers and over 20 teams!!
My achievements over the last few years have been dancing at the UDO “Hip Hop” Worlds and placing 2nd with my team Nu-Vyb.. Dancing with my Street Cheer team “Fury” at Europeans in 2014 in Croatia and placing 2nd (with my Minis placing 1st).. And last year my Minis placing 2nd at the European Championships in Croatia as well as many UKCA National titles.
I am also currently working very close with Burnley FC in the Community, coaching the “Kicks” Street Dance teams, which have had many achievements so far such as 1st place at UDO street comps. I also teach Dance in primary schools as PPA cover and after school clubs!
